Injectable solution of dextrose 10%
Presentations: 250 mL, 500 mL and 1 L
MS Register: 1.0491.0020.
The injectable glucose solution at a concentration of 10% is indicated as the source of water, calories, and osmotic diuresis in cases of dehydration and hypoglycemia in a vehicle for dilution compatible drugs. The glucose solutions of higher concentrations, such as 10% glucose, by being hyperosmotic are generally used as a source of carbohydrate. Thus, glucose is the preferred source of carbohydrate in parenteral nutrition regimens, often also being used in oral rehydration solutions for the prevention and / or treatment of dehydration caused by diarrhea.
The glucose-free electrolyte solutions should not be administered simultaneously with the infusion of blood due to the possibility of clotting. The use of glucose solution is contraindicated in the following situations: overhydration, hyperglycemia, diabetes, acidosis, dehydration hypotonic and hypokalemia. The use of hypertonic glucose solution (concentration above 5% glucose) is contraindicated in patients with intracranial and intraspinal hemorrhage, delirium tremens in dehydrated patients, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome and patients with hypersensitivity to products corn.
